Outcomes EMCEF Executive Committee - 6 Sep 07

The EMCEF Executive Committee, at its meeting on 6 September 2007 in Brussels, unanimously elected Sari VAITTINEN as Vice-President.

Sari VAITTINEN, who works for Toimihenkilöunioni (FI), has been taking an active part in EMCEF’s work for a few years already as she is also a member of our EWC statutory committee. She was elected upon recommendation from Nordic IN, in replacement of Jeannette Van DONGEN of FNV Bondgenoten (NL).

The Presidium and Executive Committee also decided to set up a Working Group in preparation of Congress (Prague, 11-13 June 2008). This Working Group which will meet to discuss priorities for the period 2008-2012.

Industrial Policy Committee:
Sector coordinators will be nominated within this committee in spring 2008.

European Work Councils Committee:
A draft list of company coordinators was endorsed by the Executive Committee; an updated list will also be submitted in 2008.

Social Dialogue Committee:
EMCEF currently covers 4 sectoral social dialogues: chemical, electricity, extractive industries, gas. The Executive Committee confirmed that the priority is to set up more sectoral social dialogues.

Collective Bargaining Committee:
Work related to collective bargaining is now partially coordinated with EMF and ETUF-TCL with the assistance of the ETUI-REHS. A common logo (EUCOBAN) is being used and joint meetings are being held. The new EMCEF Collective Bargaining report was presented to EC members.

Deputy Secretary Jean-François Renucci resigned. Nominations from affiliates for an officer in charge of energy and other sectors are requested no later than 30 September.
